2019 School-Aged Field Tour (September 18, 2019, at Beaverlodge, Alberta)
BY INVITATION ONLY
Four Grade Six classes from the region were invited to participate in a one-day, outdoor field tour event at the Beaverlodge Research Farm. This special event featured researchers and technical support staff who shared field crop information using field plots plus hands-on demonstrations aimed to increase awareness of the importance of agriculture in the Peace River region.

Our theme was "Seeding to Harvest" - We discussed crops grown in the region, what it takes to be a farmer and grow field crops, what farmers contend with and protect but also what they produce. We talked about some of the foods we eat and we touched upon the importance of the Peace River region to national and international markets.

This event was supported by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and made possible through the support of the Alberta Canola Producers Commission, Alberta Pulse Growers, Alberta Wheat Commission, and Alberta Barley Commission. We appreciate Elite Steam and Vac's support.

We were pleased to welcome Ecole St. Gerard, Bezanson School, St. Mary's Elementary, and Beaverlodge Elementary to the Beaverlodge Research Farm.  Access a downloadable PDF pictoral summary of the event!
